    Newberry College, a small private institution in Newberry, South Carolina, plays NCAA Division II sports. The college is a member of the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Winter sports played at Newberry are mens basketball, womens basketball, and wrestling. Wrestling is not a SAC sport, and the Newberry Wolves wrestle against schools in NCAA Division II Super Region I.
    Mens and womens basketball seasons began in early November with games and tournaments against mainly non-conference opponents. After the holiday break, the schedule gets tough as both the men and the women will face their South Atlantic Conference rivals. The men lost their only conference game in December in overtime to Lincoln Memorial University, while the women won their game. The women have had a strong start to their 2012-13 season, with a 6-2 (1-0) record thus far. The mens record is currently 4-5 (0-1) at the holiday break.

    The mens and womens basketball teams have very similar schedules. On January 5 the Newberry teams will host conference rival Mars Hill. Other January home games are scheduled against Wingate University on 1/16, Catawba on 1/19, and Tusculum on 1/26. In February the Newberry men and women will host Anderson University (SC) on 2/6, Carson-Newman on 2/16, and Brevard College on 2/20. Their last home games will be March 2 against Lenoir Rhyne. These are all South Atlantic Conference match ups. The SAC Championships will be held In Greenville, South Carolina March 6-10, 2013.

    Newberry College basketball games are played at Eleazer Arena, which seats 1,600 fans. The arena is part of the colleges physical education complex on Luther Street. Single game tickets are $5 for adults. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free.

    Newberrys wrestling team is top ranked this year in NCAA Division II Super Region I. They have won the Super Region I championship the last five years. As of December 12, Newberry was #1 in tournament points in the Basford Division II Rankings. In early January the Wolves will head to the Midwest to wrestle Central Missouri and Newman, and then participate in the NCAA National Duals in Springfield, Illinois. The Newberry team returns home to host the Super Region I Duals January 25-26. Colleges scheduled to participate in the duals are Seton Hill, West Liberty, Ohio Valley, East Stroudsburg, and Pitt-Johnstown.

    In February Newberry hosts the Newberry Open on 2/3, UNC Pembroke on 2/7, and Anderson on 2/13. The NCAA Super Region I Tournament is scheduled for February 22-23 in Kutztown, PA. The NCAA Division II National Tournament will take place March 8-9 in Birmingham, AL. Home wrestling matches are held in Eleazer Arena, and tickets are $5 for adults.
